Yoga in Action
Yoga can be experienced and embodied in many ways. In our classes, you may hear invitations to explore how you are with yourself in each moment, notice what arises, and meet your experience with curiosity and care. These invitations are tools for carrying presence, awareness, and compassion into your everyday life.
The classes, workshops, and community initiatives outlined below are designed to support connection, collaboration, and mutual support, helping us show up with intention and presence both for ourselves and for the communities we are part of.
Taking yoga off the mat…
Community Discourse Series

Offerings include monthly free Queer Yoga classes, monthly sliding scale Women’s Circle workshops, monthly reduced cost Guided Meditations, and more!
Local Partnerships
We partner with local, largely women-owned businesses to add value to our memberships while supporting and reinvesting in our local business community. We also donate our studio free of charge to organizations where space rental is cost prohibitive.
Student & Teacher Training Scholarships
In both 2023 & 2024 we offered 2 full and 1 half scholarships as part of our continued work to make systemic change towards diversity, equity and inclusion in the Greater Portland yoga community. In 2025, we expanded our available scholarships to 3 full and 1 half.
Price Reduction
No questions asked class or membership price reductions for anyone who finds our pricing prohibitive to getting on the mat.
Quarterly Educational Staff Meetings
Each quarter, our team comes together for a facilitated discussion centered around a specific theme.
In 2023, our focus was Conscious Communication & Feedback, with the goal of fostering a culture of reflective communication within the studio and building a sustainable system for giving and receiving feedback.
In 2024, we explored the intersection of yoga and social justice, focusing on ways to dismantle systems of oppression through our practice and community.
In 2025, our theme is Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing. We created a space where our teachers shared their expertise, ideas, and inspiration, fostering growth both individually and collectively.
Continuing Ed Teacher Stipend
Annual stipend for our teaching staff to deepen their knowledge and commitment to their yoga practice. By learning from a variety of teachers and styles, we can diversify and grow our collective teachings and knowledge base.
Weekly Free Classes
Join us for Free Beginner’s Vinyasa class every Friday at 5:30pm. This class is designed to be accessible and supportive with a focus on helping students make empowered choices that feel wise for their bodies.
Additionally, every week we offer a free-virtual Yin class from 6:45-7:45pm as a way to support community organizers and anyone who needs to practice from home!
Why Yoga in Action?
Decolonization: Decolonization is a multifaceted process that involves education, self-reflection, and a commitment to cultivating environments where people can feel supported and seen. The Yoga in Action work we do seeks to expand our students' understanding of yoga through a critical examination of modern yoga practices and Westernized narratives, while addressing and dismantling colonial influences within the practice, teaching, and representation of yoga. This process emphasizes honoring the roots of yoga while thoughtfully adapting it to contemporary contexts in a culturally sensitive way. The goal is to foster a more equitable and culturally aware yoga community that recognizes and values the diverse origins and expressions of this practice.
Accessibility: Accessibility is central to our work. We strive to offer multiple ways for people to engage with yoga in community, both on and off the mat & recognize that barriers can take many forms, including financial, physical, or logistical constraints. Our fully livestreamed class schedule, donation-based options, and free programming are part of how we lower barriers and expand access.
Connection: Connection is at the heart of our offerings. Our classes, workshops, and discussions invite dialogue that nurtures curiosity, connection, and compassion. Our aim is to foster learning that is relational, embodied, and reflective. In these spaces, all voices are welcomed, all experiences are acknowledged, and diverse perspectives are valued.
